If you try reaching your pinned destination while your device is offline, you'll get the usual error message, “Maps can’t reach the internet. To ensure Maps doesn’t get useless and you don’t get stranded on the go, you can think ahead by downloading the offline maps that cover your pinned path. Pinning your favorite routes on Google Maps doesn't automatically give you access to them when your phone has no internet connection. With Google Maps on your computer, you can send directions to your phone, share them, print them, or save them as a link on your computer. Meanwhile, you can also save a route on Google Maps with your computer, but not as effective as using your mobile phone. ![]() You can now access your pinned directions from the “Go” tab below the screen when you open your Google Maps app or from your home screen if you saved them there. That’s how to save a route on Google Maps.
